Privacy Policy
Last updated: 07/29/2024
We built Lightweight Analytics to give website owners clear and accurate information without compromising visitor privacy. We never sell or share analytics data with third parties. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how you can control it.
1. What We Collect
- Page-view data (URL visited, referrer, timestamp, basic browser/device info).
- Anonymised IP-based hash used to count unique visitors and filter bots. The raw IP address is never stored unless the site owner explicitly enables it in their settings.
- Optional cookies – only if the site owner turns on the “high-accuracy” mode. Otherwise we operate cookieless by default.
- Aggregated conversion events (e.g. button clicks) that the site owner defines.
2. What We Do Not Collect
- No names, emails, or other personally identifiable information (PII).
- No cross-site tracking, fingerprinting, or advertising IDs.
- No “session replays”, heat-maps or invasive recordings.
3. How We Use the Data
Data is processed solely to provide aggregated traffic reports to the site owner. It helps us maintain the service (e.g. detect abuse) and improve accuracy. We do not build visitor profiles or run ads.
4. Data Retention
Historical stats are retained for as long as the customer keeps an active subscription (or during the free trial). Customers may delete their site and its data at any time from the settings page or by emailing [email protected].
5. International Transfers & Hosting
Analytics data is stored on servers located in the United States. EU-located customers may request EU-only data hosting (beta). All transfers are encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.
6. Your Rights
If you are a visitor to a site that uses Lightweight Analytics, and you believe your data is being mis-used, please contact the site directly and notify us. We will investigate and, if needed, delete the associated data.
