Spike alerts

Get an instant heads-up the moment your site takes off, or you hit the front page of Hacker News. Spike alerts monitor traffic in real-time and send you an e-mail when visits surge beyond a chosen threshold.

How it works

Every 60 seconds the backend looks at the last 5-minute window and compares it to the preceding hour:

Sensitivity Trigger Minimum volume
Relaxed 5× usual traffic 100 visits in 5 min
Normal 3× usual traffic 50 visits
Aggressive 2× usual traffic 20 visits

After an alert fires we wait 60 minutes before sending another to keep your inbox calm.

Enabling alerts

  1. From All Sites click the Alerts button on a site card or open Site → Spike alerts from the dashboard side-menu.
  2. Flip Send spike alerts on.
  3. Choose Sensitivity with the slider (Relaxed ▸ Aggressive).
  4. Save.

What the e-mail shows

  • Live visitor count when the spike happened.
  • Top page at that moment.
  • Top referrer / campaign.
  • Quick link back to the real-time dashboard.

Ideal for those Product Hunt launches, or you know when you launch on some competitor that's better than PH, where every minute counts.
